Fairly new,about 6 months old. thanks for any help. You mentioned the vac bag or dust tank is still empty. So maybe its one of the filters that wont allow too much air coming through. They might be blocked. Even a six month old vac can have a blocked filter, if you are using it quite often. Maybe it's getting too hot. That would be my best guess. Land Rover . How do I Replace the Dash Lights on a 1999 Ford Taurus?The 1999 Ford Taurus has several dash lights on its instrument cluster. The lights illuminate the cluster gauges and, when triggered, the dash's warning indicators. In order to replace the dash lights, you will need to disconnect the battery so that you don't activate the vehicle's airbags when partially removing the instrument cluster. The job sounds more complicated than it really is, and all you'll need to complete it are a few basic tools and #194 replacement bulbs. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench Phillips screwdriver #194 bulbs Step by Step : 1 Turn off the Taurus's engine. Lift the hood and prop it open. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, using a socket wrench. Wait 30 minutes. 2 Remove the two screws on top of the dashboard trim above the instrument panel, using a Phillips screwdriver. Do the same for the four screws above the steering wheel. 3 Pull off the dashboard trim from the Taurus. 4 Remove the two retainer screws holding the instrument cluster in place, using the Phillips screwdriver. Pull the instrument cluster out slightly. 5 Reach behind the instrument cluster and disconnect the wire from the rear by pulling it off. Pull the cluster out of the Taurus. 6 Flip the instrument cluster to the underside to find all of the dash lights secure in their sockets. Pull out any faulty bulbs and insert new ones. Be sure the bulbs click into place. 7 Reconnect the wire to the underside of the instrument cluster. Reinstall the cluster in the dashboard and secure it in place with the two screws. 8 Reattach the dashboard trim to the Taurus and tighten all six of its screws. Reconnect the battery and close the hood.

These lights serve the dual purposes of illuminating the instrument panel in darkened conditions and lighting up certain indicators whenever there is an issue with your Ford Taurus. To test if any of the lights need to be replaced, switch the ignition one click forward from the "OFF" position, but do not turn the engine on. This will illuminate all the dash lights, allowing you to see which lights need to be replaced. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket wrench Slotted screwdriver Phillips screwdriver 194-type bulbs Step by Step : 1 Turn off the engine of the Taurus, and open the hood. 2 Remove the negative ("-") battery terminal from the battery in the engine compartment using a socket wrench. 3 Insert a slotted screwdriver between the covers on the steering wheel column, and pry upwards. Pull off both the upper and the lower covers. 4 Position the steering wheel as low as it can go. 5 Remove the two screws above the Taurus' instrument panel and the four screws below it using a Phillips screwdriver. 6 Insert a slotted screwdriver into the dashboard trim, and pull upwards to pry it off the vehicle. Disengage the eight snap clips from the dashboard trim by hand, and pull it out of the vehicle. 7 Uninstall the two securing screws from the instrument panel with a Phillips screwdriver. 8 Pull the instrument panel towards you, and reach behind it to disconnect the two wiring plugs. Pull the instrument panel out of the Taurus. 9 Replace any burned-out bulbs from the underside of the instrument panel with new bulbs. Pull the old bulb off, and push the new bulb in.
